About the AWARD Data Library

The AWARD Data Library is the open data platform of the Association for Water and Rural Development (AWARD) (https://award.org.za), a non-profit organisation dedicated to sustainable, equitable development through participatory, research-based projects.

Our Mission

We build competencies in natural resource management across civil society, government, and the private sector — focused on social and ecological resilience in southern African river catchments.

What You Will Find Here

Biodiversity Data — Species records, freshwater biodiversity indicators, and monitoring datasets from FBIS and INWARDS. Hydrological Data — River flow, water quality, and catchment monitoring data. Climate and Weather — Climate projections, rainfall, and early warning system data. Socio-Economic Data — Community surveys, livelihoods assessments, and governance research. Geospatial Data — Shapefiles, satellite imagery, and land-use maps. Reports and Publications — Research outputs, policy briefs, and technical reports.

Programmes

Data is contributed by AWARD's active programmes including BIO-SMART, FlowTracker, MultiHEWS, NatSilt, and the Giyani Climate Resilience Programme.
