Detecting Changes in Fish Behaviour in Real-Time — Burnett et al. (2023)

Citation: Burnett, M.J., et al. (2023). Detecting changes in fish behaviour in real-time using acoustic telemetry as an early warning system. River Research and Applications, 23, 1–19.

Abstract: This study demonstrates how real-time acoustic telemetry data from the FISHTRAC network can detect behavioural changes in fish that serve as early indicators of environmental stress. The paper presents a framework for using fish movement patterns as biological sentinels for water quality and flow regime changes in southern African rivers.
